Imaginary Landscapes
Imaginary Landscapes is a special event featuring the hugely popular collaboration of leading poet, author and raconteur, Chris Tutton, with award-winning international harpist, Lucy Nolan in a performance of words by Chris and semi improvised music by Lucy.
Chris Tutton is the critically acclaimed and award-winning author of eight collections of poetry. Coined by Ned Sherrin as “the master of the short poem” his work has also been described as “absolutely beautiful” by Alexander Waugh with Iain Anderson of BBC Scotland noting that it was “philosophy in poetry form” and the Sunday Times commenting on its “dramatic passion and dignity”.
Lucy Nolan is an Award-winning International Harpist, passionate about challenging and evolving new styles of harp playing through collaboration, composition and performance. Featured on Radio 3 and 4 she has also played on Hollyoaks and ITV,S drama, ‘Victoria’. She plays for the UK’s leading orchestras, including the BBC Concert Orchestra, The Hallé and the Royal Northern Sinfonia and has enjoyed performing worldwide, including at the Royal Albert Hall, Lambeth Palace, Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Jaipur Literature Festival and at the World Harp Congress in Hong Kong.

The Burford Comedy Club - VERY NEARLY SOLD OUT!
Paul Miller is lifting the recycled lid to reveal Burford's (or his own?) neurotic underbelly, explaining how he and his ego fell out big time on a recent meditation retreat and why he sadly, but urgently, had to dump two of his closest friends! AND Paul is joined by legendary London one-liner stand-up Mark Rivlin, plus the night's headliner is the the one and only Samantha Day - fresh from yet another successful Edinburgh Fringe with her unique take on the plight of the millennials and why our petty grievances are so damn satisfying.

An Evening with Quintin Lake
Quintin Lake is a multi-award-winning photographer specialising in landscape and architecture, with twenty-five years of experience. A fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and Royal Society of Arts, his work has been featured in leading publications such as National Geographic Traveler, the Guardian, and Der Spiegel. In 2020, he was named The Great Outdoors’ Outdoor Personality of the Year. Quintins book, Perimeter has just been shortlisted for the 2025 Wainwright Prize for Illustrative books and we are delighted to welcome Quinitn to the Madhatter Bookshop to talk to us and show us his work. Carefully curated with over 1,300 photos and interspersed with stories of Quintin’s adventures, this book is an immersive visual experience that showcases Britain as you’ve never seen it before.

Book Signing with Harriett Lowther: An opportunity to bring your dog to the bookshop. We are delighted that Harriet will be signing copies of her new book, TELL YOUR DOG I LOVE THEM and if you bring your dog, when you buy a copy she will do a little sketch of your dog to take home!
