We are thrilled to say our line-up for Burford Literary Festival 26th - 28th September is nearly complete.

Here is a selection of our guest speakers to get you in the literary mood.

Gill Hornby:

Kathy Slack:

Rough Patch, Kathy draws us into the world of the kitchen garden to reflect on the lessons she learnt from the soil, along with sharing recipes inspired by the land.

Sophie Maycock

Shark: The Illustrated Biography blends engaging profiles of selected species with captivating illustrations to offer an unparalleled exploration of the life and times of the shark.

Richard Ovenden

Burning The Books: Director of the Bodlien Library Richard Ovenden gives us an engaging and timely survey of the villains who destroy written records of the past – and the heroes who try to stop them.

Rob Eastaway

Much Ado About Numbers.

What's the connection between Shakespeare and maths? A lot, as it turns out!- Why was it hazardous to play with dice?- How did audiences get to the theatre on time?- Why was 'nothing' so significant to the Tudors?- What could Falstaff buy with a groat?- Were cryptic messages hidden in the First Folio?- And why did Shakespeare never end a line with the word orange?

We hope you will agree that our line up this year offers both fascinating and insightful events to entertain and enlighten. As always tickets will be limited to encourage engagement and conversation between our guests and audience.

Our full programme will be available soon and our Box Office will open shortly, until then please do SAVE THE DATE.
