BOOK LAUNCH with author Anne Youngson

We are thrilled and delighted that award winning author Anne Youngson has chosen to launch her new book, The Six Who Came To Dinner at Burford Literary Festival on Friday 23rd September 2022.

The one-time Managing Director for Land Rover who wrote her first attempt at a novel in her lunch breaks, went on to publish her first novel Meet Me At The Museum which was short-listed for the Costa First Novel Award and won the inaugural Paul Torday Memorial prize for debut fiction by writers over sixty. In 2021 there was a play adaptation for BBC Radio 4 - it continues to be a firm favourite on bookseller shelves across the country. Then came Three Women And A Boat, a glorious tale of female friendship and a BBC2 Radio 2 Book Club selection.

The Six Who Came To Dinner has an official publication date of 6th October but Anne will be giving BLF friends a sneak preview and will be signing copies at the official Book Launch on 23rd September 2022.

The village cleaning lady who holds everyone's house-keys opens a boot to find some unexpectedly dead contents; a vengeful dinner party host serves more than just a roast to her six guests; and driven to distraction by his new young wife, a man resorts to two grisly acts, in a gripping re-imagining of a famous Irish ballad.

Ripping away the polite façade of small communities, these stories of love, lies and revenge reveal the roiling emotions and frustration that can lead seemingly good people to do bad things. Rich in compassion, pathos and humour, Anne Youngson offers us her dark take on human foibles, pettiness and rivalry in this sparkling. unputownable collection.

Tickets for this exciting event are £12 and include refreshments. Copies of The Six Who Came To Dinner Will be available for purchase at the event.
